The Best Snow Blower Prep Tips & Tricks
Here at Best Line Equipment, cold weather has arrived, and winter is on its way. Many people are pulling out their snow blower and getting it ready before bad weather hits. As these snow blowers come out of storage, there are a few things to prep to keep your snow blower performing reliably through the winter months.
You should visibly check the whole unit for any signs of damage or disfigurement to ensure no rust holes or deterioration have ruined the safety of the unit. We include 5 steps for visibly checking your snow blower before use this season.
Inspect the unit as a whole.
-Check to make sure the guards are in place and no shear pins have rusted or broken off.
-Make sure wear components such as the shoot discharge and shoot bottom are not worn and apply white lithium grease if needed.
Inspect the fluids.
-Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean.
-Reinsert the dipstick to threads (do not turn to tighten) and remove it once more.
-Make sure the fluid coverage is an acceptable level.
Inspect the electrical system.
-Examine connections for deterioration.
-Make sure no wires have come loose or have been pulled out.
-Check to make sure the battery cables are tight and free of corrosion.
Inspect the tires or tracks on the snow blower.
-If the snow blower has tires, check for proper pressure and tread.
-If the snow blower has tracks, look for any cracks or separation on the treads.
Check the fuel level.
-Look for any debris, and remove it if present.
-Check for a foul smell that may indicate a leak.
